The course overview page provides aggregated information from the course. 


Course naming conventions

It is recommended that an organization creates a collection of rules that can be used when naming courses and folders in courses, as well as when giving courses friendly names that are easy for students to remember. 

Universities, for example, often use course codes as a part of the course name. For example: HIS 301 is the code for a history course. 

Well-chosen naming conventions aid the users in navigating larger structures.

Student view:


Courses will always have the same sections. These sections consist of announcements (previously known as bulletins), latest changes, tasks (or follow-up tasks), and events. Click the 'wheel' icon next to Announcements to change your announcement settings. The planner will populate on the course overview page if the planner dates align with the current date. For example: If a teacher has 2 plans each week, one set for Wednesday and one that is set for Friday. Users logging in on Mondays will see both Plans, but any user logging in after Wednesday that week will only see the Friday plan as that is the one that is most relevant for the week. 


Content Descriptions

The following blocks are the most commonly used aggregated blocks on a course overview dashboard.

  • Plans: Displays current lesson plans according to the date range.
  • Tasks/Follow-up tasks: Students will see a list of tasks (assignments, tests, surveys, custom activities) to complete. Instructors/Teachers will view "Follow-up Tasks" to assess.
  • Announcements: Post news and announcements for your course participants. You can determine the settings and whether to show older announcements by clicking the drop-down menu. 
  • Events: List important events in a course, these are linked to the Calendar. You can also open the Calendar directly from the Course Overview page.
  • Latest changes: Shows any changes made by the teacher to the course will be reflected here.
